Recognized Among the Nation’s Top Contractors
Chesapeake Glazing was recently recognized in Salt Lake City at the ABC National Health and Safety Excellence Awards, earning both the National Merit Award and a place among just 52 contractors nationwide to receive the 2025 National Safety Excellence Award.
This recognition places us among a select group of companies evaluated and honored for safety performance at a national level.
What the Award Represents
The National Safety Excellence Award evaluates more than a single submission. It considers a company’s overall safety performance, including systems, field execution, leadership involvement, and measurable results.
A key part of that evaluation is the STEP (Safety Training Evaluation Process), which assesses how companies plan work, train employees, track performance, and continuously improve their safety practices.
This means the award reflects not only what is documented, but what is consistently demonstrated across jobsites.

How We Earned It
This recognition is based on how safety is planned, reinforced, and carried out in the field.
For us, that starts with consistency. Every job begins with pre task planning so crews understand the scope, identify risks, and align on how the work will be done before it starts. That same focus continues through weekly toolbox talks and site specific orientations, keeping expectations clear across all projects.
Execution in the field is just as important. Our supervisors and field leaders stay actively involved, walking jobsites, engaging with crews, and addressing issues in real time. Safety is not managed from a distance. It is part of daily operations.
We also track performance closely. Leading indicators like training participation, inspections, and near miss reporting help us identify trends early and make adjustments before incidents occur. That information is reinforced through ongoing training, hands on demonstrations, mentorship, and daily communication in the field.
A Team Effort
Accepting the award on behalf of Chesapeake Glazing were Mike O’Neal, Aaron Johnson, Tom Radtke, and Ciro Mendez.
While they represented us on stage, this recognition belongs to the entire team.
Standards can be set and expectations can be communicated, but they only matter if they are carried out in the field. This award reflects the way our crews show up every day, the decisions they make on the jobsite, and the accountability they bring to their work and to each other.
Management can define the approach, but it is our people who execute it. The consistency of that execution is what makes the difference.
“The safety record of Chesapeake Glazing speaks for itself, setting a benchmark for a culture that puts its people first,” said Thomas Murphy, 2026 Chair of the ABC National Board of Directors.

What This Means Moving Forward
This recognition validates the systems and processes we have in place and reinforces the importance of maintaining them.
It reflects the consistency of our teams, the involvement of our leadership, and the accountability we bring to every project.
Most importantly, it confirms that how we operate is not just stated, it is proven in the field.
