A Milestone Worth Recognizing

Since having our apprenticeship program approved by the Maryland Department of Labor in November, we have officially welcomed our fourth apprentice.

That is a milestone worth recognizing.

We are excited to welcome our newest apprentice, Jayden Brehm, and continue building a program that is already gaining momentum just a few months in.

What makes this meaningful is not just the number, but what it represents.

There is a lot of conversation across the industry about workforce development and bringing in the next generation. And with nearly 40% of the construction and glazing workforce expected to retire over the next 10 to 20 years, that conversation is becoming more urgent.

This is what it looks like in practice creating a path, committing to it, and continuing to invest in it.

Through our partnership with the National Glass Association and the Maryland Department of Labor, the program is built around a structured curriculum paired with hands on field experience, giving apprentices a clear and intentional path into the trade.

Connecting Training to Real Work

And just as important as bringing people in is how they are trained.

Our apprentices are not only learning in the classroom and shop. They are out in the field, working alongside our teams and seeing how projects come together in real time.

On our University of Maryland School of Social Work project with The Whiting Turner Contracting Company, one of our apprentices has been hands on assisting with punch wall layout and supporting curtain wall installation. He is learning how drawings translate into the field, how systems are built, and the level of precision required to make everything align and perform the way it should.

That is what this program is built around.

Connecting what is taught with what is done.

It is about developing people who understand the work, can apply it, and continue to grow with experience.

We are proud of the progress our apprentices are already making and look forward to continuing to build this program.

Because this is not just about four apprentices.

It is about building the future of our workforce the right way.
