Building the Future of the Trade with NGA
Chesapeake Glazing was recently featured as a National Glass Association Member Spotlight, recognizing the work we’ve been doing around workforce development and our apprenticeship program.
The recognition is appreciated, but the conversation behind it is what matters.
One of the biggest priorities for us has been creating a real path into the trade. With nearly 40% of the workforce nearing retirement in the coming years, the need to bring in and develop the next generation is not a future issue it is already here.
That reality is what pushed us to be intentional.
Through our partnership with NGA, we were able to access the curriculum that helped us get our apprenticeship program approved through the Maryland Department of Labor. That gave us a foundation to build something structured, scalable, and built for long term impact.
The article gets into how we’re approaching that responsibility.
How we connect training to real field experience.
How we think about retention by investing in people early.
And how we continue to grow without lowering our standards.
It also reflects the role NGA has played beyond the program itself.
Access to resources, industry insight, and a network of peers has helped us stay connected to what others are seeing and solving. That perspective has been critical as we continue to refine how we build and develop our teams.
This spotlight is not just about Chesapeake Glazing.
If you are in glass or construction, it is worth the read.
