Safety Is Not Negotiable
At Chesapeake Glazing, safety is not a priority that shifts. It is a standard that guides every decision on every jobsite.
This month, we recognize Angel Gonzalez as our Champion of Health and Safety for doing exactly that.
While working on a project site, Angel identified unsafe scaffolding. Instead of working around it or pushing forward, he made the decision to pause work until the issue was corrected.
That decision matters.
In the field, moments like that often come down to judgment. The ability to recognize risk, trust your experience, and take action even when it may impact schedule or production. In this case, that decision protected the crew and helped prevent a situation that could have led to injury, rework, or delays.
That is what leadership looks like.
Safety is not just about policies or procedures. It is about people making the right call when it counts. It is about creating an environment where speaking up is expected, supported, and acted on.
That is the standard we hold.
Foremen play a critical role in that culture. They are the ones closest to the work, responsible for setting expectations, identifying risks, and ensuring that safety is built into the way the job is executed. Angel’s actions reflect exactly what that responsibility looks like in practice.
Moments like this reinforce what it means to operate the right way.
We are proud to recognize Angel for his leadership, his awareness, and his commitment to protecting the people around him.
