Last Friday, the Chesapeake Glazing team traded job sites, desks, and meetings for a day on the water at Solomons Island.
With three charter boats, plenty of friendly competition, and a lot of laughs, we spent the day fishing and enjoying time together outside of work. We also had a pretty good haul, reeling in Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and somehow even one very tiny squid.
For a team that is usually spread between the office, shop, and jobsites, getting everyone together in one place does not happen every day. That is part of what made the trip so enjoyable.
There was no agenda, no project to talk through, and nothing to accomplish other than having a good time together.

Time Together Looks Different Outside of Work
Days like this give people the chance to connect in a different way. You end up talking to coworkers you may not normally spend much time with, learning a little more about each other, and seeing personalities come out when there is a fish on the line and a little competition involved.
It is easy to get caught up in schedules, deadlines, and everything that needs to happen next. Stepping away from that once in a while gives everyone a chance to reset and appreciate the people behind the work.

At Chesapeake Glazing, we are fortunate to have a team that works hard for each other every day. Being able to spend time together outside of work is something we value, especially when it gives people from different parts of the company a chance to simply enjoy each other’s company.
A big thank you to Mike for treating the team to a Friday on the Bay and to the captains who made the trip such a great experience.
The fish were a bonus. The tiny squid was unexpected. But the best part was getting everyone together.
A pretty great way to spend a Friday with an even better crew!
