Just one month after our apprenticeship program was approved by the Maryland Department of Labor, we welcomed our first two glazing apprentices to Chesapeake Glazing. Seeing this program move from concept to reality so quickly reinforces why we built it and why it matters.
Learning Through Hands on Experience
This week, our apprentices are working alongside Shop Manager Phillip Crisp, assembling aluminum door frames and learning how precision, sequencing, and quality in the shop directly impact performance in the field. From day one, they are gaining hands on experience that connects craftsmanship to real world outcomes.
Developing Skills with Purpose
Over the coming weeks, their training will continue to expand across key areas of our operation, including cutting and machining, glazing preparation, sealant application, hardware installation, and quality control. Each phase of the program is designed to build skills intentionally, with guidance from experienced leaders who understand the responsibility of teaching the trade the right way.

Investing in People and the Future
This apprenticeship reflects our commitment to developing talent and strengthening the future of the glazing industry. With a significant portion of the skilled trades workforce nearing retirement, we believe it is our responsibility to create clear pathways to long term careers. Our state approved, three year paid apprenticeship program provides structure, opportunity, and a strong foundation for growth.
Moving Forward with Purpose
Welcoming our first apprentices is an important milestone for Chesapeake Glazing. It represents continuity, craftsmanship, and a long-term investment in people. We are proud of the work already happening and excited for what lies ahead as this program continues to grow.
