Opening Doors to the Next Generation of Glaziers

Building the Workforce Our Industry Needs

The construction industry continues to face a growing need for skilled workers, and the glazing trade is no exception.

As glass systems become more complex and building envelope expectations continue to rise, the need for trained glaziers has never been more important. Modern glazing requires technical knowledge, field precision, safety awareness, and hands-on experience. It is a skilled trade that plays a critical role in how buildings look, perform, and last.

That is why workforce development has become such an important part of Chesapeake Glazing’s future.

Expanding Opportunities into Washington, DC

Chesapeake Glazing is proud to share that our apprenticeship program has now been certified in Washington, DC by the Government of the District of Columbia through the DC Department of Employment Services.

This milestone allows us to expand apprenticeship opportunities beyond Maryland and create a pathway for more individuals to enter the glazing trade.

Our Maryland apprenticeship program is already underway with four apprentices, and this next step allows us to continue building on that progress. Expanding into DC is not just about growing the program. It is about reaching more people, creating more access, and helping more individuals see a future for themselves in the skilled trades.

Creating Access to Long-term Careers

For many people, especially young people entering the workforce, location can be a real barrier. Training closer to home can make a career in the trades more realistic, more sustainable, and more attainable.

It can reduce travel challenges, support well-being, and give more individuals the opportunity to build a career without having to leave their community behind.

At Chesapeake Glazing, we believe apprenticeship is one of the most important ways to strengthen the future of our trade. It gives new workers the opportunity to learn through structured training, mentorship, and real field experience while building confidence and long-term career skills.

It also helps our industry prepare for what is ahead.

The future of glazing will depend not only on better products, stronger systems, and more advanced building designs, but on the people trained to install them correctly. By investing in apprentices today, we are helping build the workforce needed to support the projects, buildings, and communities of tomorrow.

This certification is an important step forward for Chesapeake Glazing, our apprenticeship program, and the next generation of glaziers.

We are proud to continue opening doors for those ready to learn the trade, build a career, and become part of the future of commercial glazing.
