Champion of Safety & Quality: Steve Chaney

Last year, we introduced the Champion of Health and Safety Award to recognize team members who go above and beyond in protecting both. Nominated by our Project Managers and Superintendents, the award reflects the expectations we set for our work and the culture we are continuing to build across the company.

The award is given to team members who demonstrate leadership in the field, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and high quality work environment.

Recognizing Leadership in the Field

During our recent safety standdown, Steve Chaney was recognized as this month’s Champion of Health and Safety and presented with a Visa gift card in recognition of his outstanding attention to detail on site.

Steve earned this recognition for many reasons, but one small observation made a significant impact.

Before a door left the shop, Steve noticed that the vertical stile was incorrect. By identifying the issue early, he prevented what could have become a costly field problem once the material reached the jobsite.

Why the Details Matter

In construction, small details often have the greatest impact.

Catching an issue before materials leave the shop protects the schedule, prevents unnecessary rework in the field, and helps ensure that partners across the project can continue moving forward without disruption.

More importantly, it reflects the mindset that safety and quality start long before installation begins.

Steve’s attention to detail demonstrates the level of care and accountability we aim to bring to every project.

Building a Culture of Safety and Quality

The Champion of Health and Safety Award represents more than a single moment of recognition. It reflects the culture we are building as a company.

Every project depends on team members who are willing to slow down, look closely, and speak up when something is not right. Those actions protect our teams, our partners, and the quality of the work we deliver.

Steve’s example reminds us that strong safety and quality standards are built through daily attention to the details that matter.
