From the Office to the Jobsite

Last week, we traded our desks for hard hats.

In recognition of Women in Construction Week, the women from our office had the opportunity to step onto the jobsite at SOMOS A and B, a residential and storefront project currently underway.

While many of us work behind the scenes every day, visiting the site offered a valuable chance to see the project from a different perspective and connect our work in the office to the progress happening in the field.

Connecting the Office and the Jobsite

In construction, the work that happens in the field is only part of the story. The planning, coordination, and support that take place in the office play an essential role in keeping projects moving forward.

This particular project was originally bid by Joanna Townsend, our Lead Estimator, who began her career as a drafter and has played a key role in shaping the project from the very beginning.

Behind the scenes, Priti Parikh and Chelsea Kirsch help ensure that payments are processed, project managers have the resources they need, and that the organization and documentation behind the project stay on track.

My role, Laura Mrugalski, (breaking the 4th wall here), focuses on sharing our progress, connecting the field to the office, and helping tell the story of the work we do and the people who make it happen.

Seeing the project in person helped bring all of these roles together and highlighted how each piece contributes to the larger effort.

Construction Is a Team Effort

Projects like SOMOS A and B are the result of collaboration between many people working in different roles across the industry.

While the field crews bring the work to life on site, the office team helps support the planning, coordination, and communication that keep projects moving forward.

Women across the industry contribute to every part of that process, from estimating and project support to communications and operations.

Women in Construction Week provides a moment to recognize those contributions, but the impact of women in this industry extends far beyond a single week.

Celebrating Women in Construction

Construction is, and always has been, a team effort.

The women working across this industry continue to play an important role in shaping projects, supporting teams, and helping move the industry forward.

Here is to the women contributing to construction every day and to the teams that support and grow alongside them.
